Backyards
A branding and UX design project addressing the post-pandemic demand for green spaces and fostering a borrowing culture over ownership. Backyards provides a seamless platform for users to rent outdoor spaces for various activities, from gardening to weekend relaxation. From research and flows to user testing, final UI, branding, and promotional assets, this project creates an engaging and sustainable experience for its users.

The Challenge
The challenge was to create a platform that not only connects people with underutilized outdoor spaces but also encourages a shift towards a more sustainable and community-driven way of experiencing nature. By turning private backyards into vibrant, plant-filled retreats, Backyards aims to provide users with the opportunity to grow their own food, enjoy outdoor activities, and share their green spaces with others—ultimately fostering a culture of access over ownership and promoting a deeper connection with the environment

Backyards
The setup screen is consisting of three phases for easier navigation. Users select which activity they want to do in the outdoor area, the dates and the price and distance, then they are navigated to the browse screen.
From Bottom Navigation to Top Bar
Most radical improvement after user testing was to get rid of the bottom navigation menu by creating a more effective and simple bar on top
Next Steps
For the next steps in Backyards, focusing on establishing a platform that offers more than just a booking service would be the ideal way, to create a new way for people to connect with nature.
Rather than just focusing on the logistics, incorporate interactive elements that highlight the joy of gardening, sharing spaces, and the act of slowing down.
